Other common questions...

Q: What’s included with my tuition?

A: Your tuition goes towards meals, accommodations, airport transportation, AND 4+ workshops each day with the instructors as well as special guest instructors! We also provide on-site, live rhythm sections for playing opportunities during the day, and jam sessions in the evening.

We have worked diligently to maximize the retreat experience. We understand that $2,800 is a lot of money in one chunk, so you'll be able to pay in two payments (Deposit and Final Balance).

Q: What time do we end on Sunday?

A: Between 12:30 and 1pm.

Q: Where do we stay?

A: There are group cabins (air-conditioned) with cots.  If you would prefer your own space you can bring a tent and camp. Another option is to stay at one of the nearby hotels or bed and breakfast.  You are responsible for the cost and having a way to get back and forth.

Q:  How do I know if I play well enough to attend?

A: The retreat is designed for intermediate to advanced players.

A note from Bob Franceschini: “We are concentrating on materials that require a basic playing ability and some familiarity with basic scales and chords, as well as more advanced, up to and including professional level players. We will place you in a group with other players on your level. I will personally coach people that aren’t absolute beginners that want to step up their current level of technique and be surrounded by better players. That in itself will advance your playing tremendously.”

If you are uncertain if it is for you, please send us a youtube or recording of you playing. insideoutsideretreat@gmail.com

Q:  What age do I need to be?

A:  17-99.  The average age is around 43.

Q:  Who will the guest instructors be?

A:  Due to the ever-changing schedules of professional performers, it's hard to lock it down this early, but we didn't want to wait to open registration. Rest assured, it will be awesome. Past guest teaching artists include Chris Potter, Joshua Redman, Kirk Whalum, Aaron Goldberg, Steve Wilson, Jeff Coffin, Chris Cheek and Branford Marsalis.

Q: Do you have rules regarding Covid 19?

A: No. Vaccination is not mandatory. Masks are not required and will be optional.

Testimonials:

“I learned more than I could ever imagine at the Inside: Outside Retreat. I absolutely loved the concrete musical knowledge that was shared to us by these real-world masters, but also how it went beyond just the music. We learned about nature and life skills that are completely relatable to music and everyday life. I have never been so inspired!” —Freddy Mack
